Reduction of flaring in the KRI

With our joint venture partner and operator of the Tawke PSC, DNO, Genel continues to be part of the first Associated Gas Injection (AGI) project in the KRI. Starting in 2020, Phase 1 of the project captured produced gas from the Peshkabir field and transported this gas, via pipeline, for reinjection at the Tawke field to enhance oil recovery, thereby reducing flaring rates across the Tawke PSC. Phase 2 of the AGI, began in 2023 and allowed for capture and reinjection of the produced gas at the Tawke field, thereby reducing flaring further. Since its inception, the AGI project has saved approximately 2.3 million tonnes of CO2e emissions from entering the atmosphere.
