Genel20 Scholars
Genel signed its first PSC in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in 2002, becoming the first company to do so. Genel has invested $3.5 billion in the region, supporting thousands of jobs and making a material social and economic contribution. Our flagship initiative to commemorate 20 years of operations in the region, was the Genel20 Scholarship programme, which is providing a university scholarship at the American University of Kurdistan for 20 talented high school graduates from across the KRI.
The programme was launched in 2022 and Genel is pleased to be providing full funding for tuition and living expenses. A range of courses were taken up by the students, including petroleum engineering, nursing, accounting and finance management, and electronics and telecommunication engineering. This programme is one of great pride for Genel and provides an example of the meaningful and long-term impact of our social investments.
