Genel Energy is a socially responsible oil producer with production assets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and exploration assets in Oman and Somaliland. Genel signed its first PSC in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) in 2002, becoming the first company to do so. Over a period of 20 years, Genel has invested $3.5 billion in the region, which has supported thousands of jobs and which has made a material social and economic contribution to the region. We marked 20 years of presence in the KRI by launching the Genel20 Scholarship programme. This programme is providing a university scholarship at the American University of Kurdistan for 20 talented high school graduates from across the KRI.

Somaliland Mobile Medical Clinic

Genel’s mobile medical clinic programme in Somaliland delivered healthcare and medical support services to the local communities in the vicinity of Genel’s SL10B13 asset. We partnered with local charity SHiFAT, who delivered this important project, which treated over 31,000 patients and was very well-received by our host communities. Genel is proud to support this life-changing initiative, which brings essential medical care to under-served areas, improving the health and well-being of thousands of people in the region.
