Governance

Integrity is one of Genel’s core values and it is this core value when combined with our ongoing commitment to transparency that enables Genel to conduct our business in a responsible and ethical manner. A series of procedures and policies provide robust guidance to the rules which govern our organisation and furthermore, allow us to meet a broad range of regulatory requirements, and prepare for unplanned eventualities.

Anti-bribery

Genel does not tolerate bribery in any form. As a company we are committed to complying with all applicable laws and preventing, detecting, and deterring corruption in all business dealings.

Genel’s anti-bribery policy and procedures are publicly available and guide staff in assessing risks, understanding anti-bribery laws and reporting any concerns.

Code of Conduct

As a socially responsible contributor to the global energy mix, how we achieve success is as important as what we achieve.

Our Code of Conduct underpins all that we do and provides the foundation to guide all employees on being an ethical business. Our Code of Conduct refers to our corporate values and outlines their application in our daily operations and decisions.

Human Rights and Modern Slavery

Genel’s ongoing commitment to conducting our business in a manner that respects human rights across all areas of operation remains a common and constant thread for all our activities, irrespective of geographic location or of the prevailing business environment.

To underline this commitment, Genel commissioned an independent human rights compliance assessment of our performance in 2021 against the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). The assessment provided a roadmap which focuses on the four thematic areas of: policies, due diligence, remedy, and communications and training. With each thematic area providing recommendations for future planning.

We demand the same high standards from all our contractors, suppliers and other business partners. As part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude.

Whistleblowing and Grievance Policy.

We encourage openness and accountability in all our operations. Our Whistleblowing Policy was updated in 2021 to reinforce our open approach and include a Grievance Policy.

The policy applies to employees, contractors, and third-party stakeholders and is published in several languages. It also includes details of a whistleblowing hotline, for anyone to report concerns on various matters, including human rights violations.
